Just as its growing region in France defines champagne, rhum agricole is made exclusively on the islands of the French West Indies. Batiste Rhum Agricole Blanc is made in small batches with the freshly pressed juice of sugar cane that we grow ourselves on Marie-Gallante, a tiny coral island known for its cane.
There’s more
We love bats and pirates. Just not in our cocktails. Most of the rum you’ve ever been served is mass-produced industrial rum. Made from the cheapest commodities available, industrial rum is nothing more than distilled molasses, the sticky residue of refined sugar, grain or beet sugar.
Over-distillation robs the alcohol of any character – this is common with so many processed foods. It is purposely over-processed then tarted up with “spices” and coloring that mask its cheap, inauthentic and unhealthy origins.
Our distillation is limited to the short dry season when the plump organic cane is harvested, giving each year its own small-batch vintage.
Owing its distinctive taste to the tropics and the artisanal craft developed there over generations, Batiste Rhum Agricole Blanc has more sun, soul and fragrant earth in its bouquet than any other rum we know.
